Google age-rates Android apps

Google is going to start using an age rating system for the Android Market as users ask for more help finding appropriate apps.
Apps will be given one of four ratings – All, Pre-Teen, Teen or Mature – by developers based on whether the content includes references to things like sex, alcohol or gambling.
Google maintains that pornography is still not allowed on the Android Market, but it’s relaxed approach to moderating content has resulted in a large number of ‘sexy girls’ wallpaper and erotic comics spam-up the store.
The ratings, which appear to be guidance rather than restrictions on downloads, will appear on the Market in the ‘next few weeks’ according to Eric Chu from the Android Developer Ecosystem.

Having recently succumbed to pressure from my 12 year old son to get him an Android phone may I ask if there is a way to prevent him from downloading any of these adult apps?
Requesting Orange block his internet access combined with preventing home wireless access is one way as we do now, but that was more to do with saving the download charges than anything else.
I could also just restrict wireless access through pointing my router to the OpenDNS free filtering but that would only filter websites and not its content.
There are some mobile filtering apps available such as from Net Nanny or Mobile Nanny but I don’t think their filtering is available for browser content just yet.
I suspect I’ll rely on Orange’s adult mobile filter whilst he’s on mobile data and play with opendns ‘ familyfilter for home wireless access.
Any thoughts?

Shopping is either pure bliss or torture depending on who you ask. Regardless of which end of the spectrum you are on, Android apps will help you save money and allow you to become a more efficient shopper (which I’m sure appeals to most of you).
