the way our climate is I just cannot aford this ,Iam a retired fireman for this to be in my bag would be great but it is not to be.

You never know James, if you enter the competition and win a Canon G1 X, you won’t need to buy it. Good luck.

The competition seems to be for UK? only?

I’m afraid it is a UK-only competition @LiSkynden

A great bit of kit to capture all those images. It’s on the want list.
Good luck everyone.

Which? Tech: Well spotted Annie, however we’ve deleted the answer you posted to make a decent game of it.

Hi Annie & Matthew – you need to click on the link in the post above (just under the video) to enter the competition I’m afraid – don’t miss out!

i just do not understand what is the point of this competition when the price is not the camera but vouchers from john lewis.
very disappointed. maybe a good idea but if the competition is a camera it should be a camera what the price should be.

Hi MARIO, I understand it might seem like a convoluted way of giving a prize, however as Which? isn’t a retailer, we’d be unable to offer the same level of service that a shop could in the unlikely event of there being any problems with the camera.

By giving vouchers instead of the camera itself, the winner will have after sales service from John Lewis that Which? can’t provide.

I hope that makes sense, and good luck with the competition.

or maybe i am reading something wrong.
anyway still i think this camera is going to be a good one.

Whilst the CI & IOM are not part of the UK are they included for the competition?

Hi Phi, yes, this is open to readers in the Channel Isles and the Isle of Man too.

Couldn’t find the answer in that video – all seemed to be from 2000 onwards – but intrigued to see the calculator – I have the same one, complete with instruction leaflet. Was it a freebie we were sent at one time?

It was indeed Donald. I found the calculator in the stores a few years ago and now keep it in my drawer, alongside some very dated Which? notepaper.

The answer’s in the video if you look closely. A point of note: Canon’s first digital camera, the PowerShot 600, isn’t part of the G-Series line up. Good luck.

Sorry Which. I watched the video but had to concentrate so much on turning the volume up and down due to the level of background music that I missed the answer. Please, please consider those of us hard of hearing or using hearing equipment as background noise is so much a problem to us. It’s bad on the TV but I expected better from Which.

Sorry about that Uni H. I’ll pass this on to our video production team. The answer is also displayed on the screen, so if you can bear to watch it again, you may stand a good chance.

Canon PowerShot G1 X competition.
What postcode must I use to complete competition? Not living in USA. Does not accept our local postcode. ???

Hi P.Ventner,
If you live in the UK then it should recognise your postcode. Please try again, and if it doesn’t work this time, please click on the ‘Send us your news’ button and let me know your details in an email. Then I’ll manually add you to the draw.
Thanks, and good luck.

I’ve always wanted a really good camera but could never afford one as good as this! A great prize, I’ve got my fingers crossed!

Alternatively Google the answer (other search engines are available!).

PS the date in Wikipedia is wrong!

A point of detail from the video – all digital cameras shoot in RAW mode, with some (the higher end normally) allowing the user to export the image file in that format, whereas most cameras automatically convert the RAW file in-camera to JPEG before exporting or saving to the memory card. So the G7 could shoot RAW images, just that it didn’t allow them to be saved as such.

I have had a few of the G series cameras and currently use the G12 and G9 daily for my work as a building surveyor, taking thousands of shots every month.

They are great cameras, packed with features that I suspect I’ll never use.

For holiday snaps, I’m still using a Canon S4 bought around 8 years ago.

I watched the video 5 times, still couldn’t find the answer. Had to go to the internet. As 3 year subscriber to Which?, I feel bilked.

It seems to me that the answer is in a video not con=ming up on the webpage in the space where it should be. The lower links are for the G series and no mention of the 600 in that video. No wonder there is a bit of ill feeling going on…?

Thanks for flagging that Profmol. The video has now been reinserted. Good luck.
