Samsung Tocco Quick Tap video review
Mobile phone reviews
26/05/2011

Orange and Barclaycard recently got together to sell the first mobile phone capable of making contactless payments, so we formed our own partnership with Which? Money to put it to the test.
The Samsung Tocco Quick Tap uses near field communications (NFC), which is the same technology used in London’s Oyster cards and Barclaycards contactless payment credit cards.
The phone is essentially a Samsung Tocco Lite which did receive a Best Buy award back when we tested it in 2009 – although some of the features, particularly the touchscreen, seem very dated now.
However, the phone is available for a pretty low price, costing just £60 on pay-as-you-go deal.

Hi,
Do the which people feel used?
After giving ASDA the “free” publicity of naming them the best (Cheapest) P.A.Y.G. network, they imediatly put up their prices by 25%!!!
I have been with ASDA for over a year, following your recomendation, and have been very happy with the service they have provided, but I object to this “way above inflation” price increase & the way they have applied it.
I have now moved (In protest) to “TALK mobile which are much cheaper, 200 mins + 5,000 text & internet use all for £8 / month, renewable monthly contract.
As far as I am concerned ASDA have shot themselves in the foot!!! what do you think?

Hi Alan,
The cost of the service is only a part of our customer satisfaction results – with customer service, range of handsets and many other factors taken into account.
Our survey found that Asda customers were very satisfied with the network’s performance – but it will be interesting to see what reaction any price rises will have on Asda’s score in the future as many customers will understandably not be happy with large rises.

I am a researcher and am urgently trying to find 1-2 people in the Greater London area who own the Samsung Tocco Quick Tap handset with Orange, and who
have registered for and used the contactless payment functionality.
The interview will take place at a location convenient to you, and we are offering a cash incentive for our participators. It will last approximately one hour.
If you are interested, and think you meet the criteria above, please get in touch asap!
Thanks,
Sarah, Essential Research
