Featuring a processor made by Huawei itself, the maker claims that the chip is 20-50% faster than the Nvida Tegra 3 chip found in other quad-core smartphones.
Clocked at a speed of 1.2/1.5GHz, Huawei claims the chip also provides a 30% power saving for the device, which runs the latest Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android.
Aside from the processor, the device includes a 4.5-inch touchscreen with a 720p HD display, Dolby 5.1 surround sound and an 8Mp camera.
The Ascend D Quad includes a 1,800mAh battery, although there is a second version sporting a 2,500mAh battery called the Ascend D Quad XL – but this is 2mm fatter to fit in the extra battery power.
A third version of the phone was also announced, the Ascend D1, although this only included a 1.2GHz dual-core processor.

Some very impressive specs – from a little known manufacturer. Wonder if it will be a success in the UK.
