What not to do with your old mobile phone

What not to do with your mobile phone

Now you have the chance to get a great deal, what are you going to do with your old handset?

New chew toy for the dog? Handy paperweight? Trusty missile for fending off troublesome squirrels? Or are you just going to leave it in that drawer, you know the one, with the lightbulbs, screws and random assortment of dead batteries?

So many of us are not making use of these sophisticated pieces of electronics and just letting them lay down to die. So, with that in mind, here are our top five things not to do with your phone when you’re finished with it, and one thing that you definitely should do.

5. Conceal it in your luggage attached to a large piece of Play Doh

Airport security generally won’t take too kindly to this one, no matter how much you argue that Play Doh is non-toxic.

4. Pretend it’s still connected, head to the Stock Market trading floor and shout “SELL SELL SELL!” into it.

We’re in enough trouble economically thanks.

3. Give it to Brazilian pigeon fanciers

Crafty devils.

2. Lend it to a journalist from the News of The World

Who knows what they will do with your voicemails.

1. Let this woman have an argument over it

They say water damage is the biggest cause of damage to a phone, who knows what this would do to it.

This is brilliant. I shall make sure not to do any of these with me old brick mobile – though I think it may have been a bit big for that woman to swallow it anyway. Plus – remember to delete all your data if you’re going to recycle it! That means doing a factory reset.

Oh shame, I was quite looking forward to a bit of 4. Shouting “SELL SELL SELL” in that place seems a lot of fun! But I shall take your advice, and recycle it :)
