LG Optimus 2X to hit shops this month

The Optimus 2X - the world's first dual-core phone.

LG has said that its first dual-core smartphone the Optimus 2X will be arriving in March.

The phone has already gone on sale in Korea – making it the world’s first dual-core smartphone – and LG is surely keen to ship it to Europe before the Motorola Atrix (another dual-core mobile) makes its appearance.

The 2X is the first to feature Nvida’s Tegra 2 dual-core 1GHz processor and it also includes an 8Mp camera capable of recording video in 1080p HD.

As announced at CES 2011, the Optimus 2X will run on Android Froyo (2.2) rather than the newer Gingerbread.

However, in line with its recent update pledge, LG says it will announce when Gingerbread will arrive on the Optimus 2x in the ‘near future’
