Sony Ericsson to launch two new mini devices

Sony Ericsson has announced the Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro phones, as well as new Facebook integration for its latest Xperia devices.
Following on from the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro, released last summer, the new devices run on the latest version of Android (Gingerbread) and have 3-inch, 320×480 pixel touchscreen displays (up from the 2.6-inch, 240×320 pixel screens on the original devices). The screens feature Sony’s Bravia Mobile Engine image-processing technology although we’re not sure how much impact the Bravia engine will have on a 3-inch display.
The Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro are powered by the same Qualcomm 1GHz (single-core) processor as the Xperia Arc and Xperia Play – an improvement from the 600Mhz processors in the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro. Both phones have 5Mp autofocus cameras and can record HD video (Sony Ericsson claim that the Xperia Mini is the world’s smallest Android smartphone to offer HD video recording). The Pro adds a front facing camera for video calls plus a full Qwerty keypad.
The Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro will be released in Q3, although pricing and network availability has still to be confirmed.
