Sony Ericsson has revealed the Android 2.3-based Xperia Pro at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
With a slide-out qwerty keyboard, and emphasis on messaging capabilities, the Xperia Pro looks pegged as the business option in Sony Ericsson new Xperia line-up of smartphones, which includes the Play, Neo and Arc.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro key specs
- Android 2.3 Gingerbread
- Qwerty keyboard
- 8Mp camera
- 1Ghz processor
- 3.7 inch ‘Bravia Engine’ capacitive touchscreen
During its press conference Sony Ericsson was keen to show off the Pro’s messaging user interface, which lets you view all your emails, SMS texts, and social network messages in a single stream.
This stream can then be split into two views, giving you an inbox on the left hand side and an adjustable view of the message itself on the right.
The keyboard is also context-sensitive, so if for instance you’re in the middle of reading an email, accessing the keyboard will quickly give you the option of replying to the sender, or to all recipients.
The Xperia Pro is due out toward the end of spring this year. We’ll be hitting Sony Ericsson’s booth at MWC 2011 for a closer look during the week, so check back soon for more details.
