Windows Phone 7 update causing problems for Omnia 7

Microsoft’s first update to its Windows Phone 7 operating system, which rolled-out earlier this week, has caused some Samsung Omnia 7 devices to crash according to reports.

Users have complained over Twitter and on Microsoft’s forum, saying that their Omnia 7 has seized-up and in some cases even ‘bricked’ (rendered inoperable) following the OS update.

Most of the problems have been solved by simply resetting the phone, but some people have said they are also having problems rebooting.

Microsoft says it is looking into the reports and will hopefully release a fix soon.

As for the update itself, well it’s nothing exciting, just a fix to help with subsequent – more substantial – updates that are due to arrive in the coming months.

My Omnia7 phone has crashed and is also out of warranty by a couple of month and I want to know how to fix this without cost to me as this clearly is a software problem and has now rendered my phone in operable and my contract provider say there is nothing they can do about it. The factory reset function does not as described on most forums and thus the phone is locked up.
