The AT100 has a 10.1-inch touchscreen and runs the Android 3.1 operating system. It will be available to buy tomorrow, 1st of September, kicking off with a 16GB version.

An NVIDIA dual-core processor will power the AT100. We’ve seen this processor in many of the Toshiba’s competitors, for example the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Android 3.1

Android 3.1 will be familiar to anyone who has used an Android phone or tablet. We’ve tried it on other tablets – its slick and can be customised to your liking. Like most Android tablets, you have access to a huge range of Android apps, although only some of these are optimised for tablets.

There are two cameras, a 2MP front-facing one for video calling and a 5MP rear-facing one for your photo and video shooting. There are also two USB slots, one mini and one full-sized. The full-sized one opens up the opportunity of using a mouse with the tablet.

iPad 2

The best selling tablet however is still the Apple iPad 2. The Toshiba is heavier than the iPad 2 (765g v 601g) and has a shorter claimed battery life (7 hours v 10 hours). At 15.8mm, the AT100 it’s also considerably thicker than most of its competitors

Tablet testing

Which? has already fully lab-tested over 30 tablets, including the iPad 2 and Galaxy Tab 10.1. Check out the results.
