Catch-up TV service SeeSaw Closes

After something of a rocky year for the streaming TV website, SeeSaw appears to have called it a day.
Today, visitors to SeeSaw’s site (www.seesaw.com) are greeted with the stark message ‘Thanks for your support, but SeeSaw is no longer available’.

4oD was one of the content providers for SeeSaw
The on-demand service was a portal, offering free content from providers such as Channel 4 and the BBC, as well as some paid-for content, such as whole series of popular TV shows. Users could also disable adverts by paying a premium.
Currently there is no official reason for the site closing down, although there were warning signs earlier in the year when the service was scheduled to be closed in June. However, when founding company Arqiva sold 75% of the service to investors, the site was given a second shot.
With no official statement from the company at this time, we can’t be sure if the site closure is permanent or temporary, but given the sites history, things don’t look too positive.
Although convenient for accessing content in one place, a bulk of the programming available through the service can be found on services such as iPlayer and 4oD.
